The Kūmara Awards celebrate placemaking projects across Aotearoa that strengthen connection to place and inspire community-led action. Gather Foundation was recognised for its mahi supporting tamariki-led design, showing how small beginnings can lead to lasting change.

He iti pounamu - Although it is small, it is precious

Place Cadets at Phillipstown Hub was a joint category winner at the Resene Pride of Place Awards for its innovative child-led approach to design. Over two weeks, tamariki aged 5 to 11 worked as co-designers and researchers to create a modular play structure - strengthening their sense of belonging, place and manaakitanga for their community.
